What should I expect when I come in to Eclipse Physical Therapy & Wellness?

When you come in to Eclipse you will be asked to complete intake paperwork before being evaluated by one of our highly trained and professionally licensed physical therapists, if you haven’t already downloaded and completed it. Your evaluating therapist will discuss your case with you, perform a comprehensive examination, and work together with you to develop an individualized plan of care to assist you in reaching your PT goals.

What do I need to bring with me to my first visit?

Please bring your insurance information, a prescription from your physician if you have one, and any relevant medical documentation (i.e. X-ray or MRI reports, list of current medications, surgical reports, etc…).

Do I need a physician’s prescription to attend physical therapy?

No, you do not need a physician’s prescription to be seen by our physical therapists! New York state residents benefit from a policy known as “direct access” in which an individual can enter a physical therapy clinic and be seen for an evaluation without a doctor’s prescription. However, these visits may or may not be covered by your insurance depending on your policy.

When should I arrive for my first visit?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow for time to fill out some intake paperwork. Our intake paperwork can be found (HERE, hyperlink) on our website, feel free to print and complete it before you arrive.

What should I wear to my first visit?

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that will allow you to move. Your physical therapist will be asking you to move during your evaluation and you may or may not begin several exercises on your first visit.

How long will each treatment last?

You can expect each visit to last about one hour. This time will vary depending on the individual plan of care agreed upon by you and your physical therapist.

How many visits will I need?

The number of visits you will need to reach your physical therapy goals is different for everybody. The number of visits depends on your diagnosis, your current status, past medical history, and your motivation to get better!

Who will I work with when I come to Eclipse Physical Therapy & Wellness?

When you come to Eclipse you will work with a professionally licensed physical therapist, and well trained support staff for your initial evaluation and for every visit after that.

What is my responsibility in physical therapy?

Physical therapy and rehabilitation is a team effort! For you to achieve your greatest potential in a reasonable time frame, you will have to become an active participant in your therapy. In most cases, you will be asked to perform a home exercise program several days a week. This program will be comprised of activities that you have already learned under our expert supervision during your sessions.

Will my insurance cover physical therapy?

YES! At Eclipse Physical Therapy & Wellness we are here to help you achieve all of your fitness and wellness goals! We provide monthly gym memberships for all to come and exercise, get healthy and feel good!

What should I do if I have to cancel or reschedule an appointment?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment just give us a call at (845) 647-4171. If you know in advance that you need to cancel an appointment we ask that you try to give us 24 hours notice.

Do I have a choice in where I go for physical therapy?

Yes! You always have a choice in where you go for physical therapy. Physicians may recommend certain physical therapy locations to you but, as an informed health care consumer, it is important for you to understand that you always have a choice in where you go for treatment.

What kind of treatments will I receive when I come for physical therapy?

There are many different treatments and techniques utilized by our physical therapists to assist you in reaching your physical therapy goals. Your PT will work with you to develop a plan that consists of different treatment types that both of you agree on, and may include modalities (moist heat, cryotherapy, electric stimulation, ultrasound, etc..), therapeutic exercise (strength and flexibility, balance and coordination, aerobic/endurance activities, postural training, etc…), manual therapy (myofascial release, soft tissue massage, joint mobilization/manipulation, traction, manual stretching/ROM, etc…), gait training, functional training, and provision of a general fitness program to assist in the prevention of disease and injury.
